So I finished my first hat the other day and ~~today~~ yesterday I finished my second hat. I used freakyartychick 's rolled brim hat pattern and they turned out awesome.I knocked the first one out in 3 days, the second one in 2 days. One thing though, I had to use US 5 needles instead of 7 or 8... because finding a 16" US 7 or US 8 in St. Pete is damn near freaking impossible D:< Fortunately, the yarn I chose for the first two hats were on the thin side (even though they were worsted weight) One of them I knit for myself, the other is a Christmas present for Mika. I tried starting a 3rd one today for Zoey... but I bought Red Heart (need I say more?) For some reason, I have the hardest freaking time casting on and knitting onto Red Heart yarn. Pretty sure it's because I'm using a needle that's 2 sizes too small than I should be using <.< but Red Heart was the only brand at Wal*Mart that had the color I wanted.... and it was cheap... and it's such a pretty color *sigh* Luckily I will be going back to Gainesville so I can pick up the right needle size this time. Woo. Might also want to pick up and actual pair of DPNs... I ended up doing my decreases with 2 other circulars I had lying around one of which was a 29" US 7 (why I have this I don't even know). Either way pics are hurr and I'll be showing them off on TTMT.

Twitter-Owl Blue was my 1st hat, the Razzleberry Stripes Hat (now finished) is for Mika, and the purple yarn will be Zoey's hat The Grapist (but I'm not doing a rolled brim hat, just a regular beanie)

I've suddenly decided I will name all of my hats.

Today I saw a bootleg of New Moon. It's the reason why I am even awake right now. I didn't hate it. It was okay... I think the movie just felt really forced and the special effects left a lot to be desired. Although, the UNFpack was UNFtastic, I'll give them that. Also, I don't know if it was because of the video quality... but ~~DiscoStick~~ Edward looks an awful lot like Michael Jackson... I wish I would have scree capped it...

And holy shit it's almost 7 am and I'm still awake. FAIL.

...on the bright side. CLASS WAS CANCELED FOR TODAY :D

One more thing! I've started watching Classic Doctor Who, starting from Doctor #1 who shall now be referred to as One, Grandpa, or Holy Bad Teeth Batman!

Studio Ghibli

Ever since I saw Spirited Away, I've been a conscious fan of Studio Ghibli and Hayao Miyazaki. (I say conscious because I wasn't aware that My Neighbor Totoro and Kiki's Delivery Service were by Miyazaki as well). This summer I had downloaded Ponyo on the Cliffs by the Sea but I never got around to watching it until this weekend. The movie was sooo freaking cute and the plot was so good that I've been on a Ghibli kick. I decided that I want to watch all the studio ghibli films I haven't seen yet (I'm only missing a couple)

So tonight I watched Only Yesterday, a fairly obscure Ghibli film that was aimed more towards adults. It was a drama about a woman reminiscing about growing up in Tokyo in '66. I picked it because it was 2 AM and it was the shortest of the films I haven't seen yet (Studio Ghibli films are notorious for being over 2.5 hours long)... but I thought I wasn't going to like it because it was a drama aimed at an older audience. I was so wrong, the movie was really well made and I really connected with the main character. I'm really glad I picked it to watch tonight because it really fit my mood :)

Tomorrow is my free day thanks to Veteran's Day so I plan on watching either Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind (I missed it when in played on adult swim a few years back D:) or Whisper of the Heart. I also need to watch The Cat Returns and Porco Rosso (but this only seems like I wouldn't like it)

I also found out that Hayao Miyazaki's son made a movie too so I added it to the list.

I just read the following e-mail from my viz comm professor: (lezlishae I think you'll find this amusing)
On Wednesday night during Intro to Viz Comm we will be having a costume contest that you can enter for the chance at winning some extra credit for either class. Pick a typeface (it can be your favorite or least favorite) and send me an email announcing your choice before Wednesday at 5:00pm. Then, dress up as your chosen typeface, but DO NOT write the name of your typeface anywhere on your costume. Then, during class, we'll vote to see if we can figure out who is dressed as which typeface. The winner, first and second runners-up will receive extra credit.

So I have a ton of homework due this week (no surprise) and it's driving me crazy!

BUT! I finished my gryffindor scarf today :D I just need to weave the ends in!!! THIS IS MY FIRST FINISHED KNITTING PROJECT OMG YAAAY!!!

Also I would like to apologize to lezlishae for not being able to participate in her bookmark swap D: I had the bookmarks designed and ready to be printed then lo and behold.... my printer died *sadness* My printer is D-E-D dead and i don't think it'll be able to print again :/ *more sad* So, I decided to post the bookmarks here if anyone would like to use them.
